Lucas Valley
This garden was designed for a young family to grow and play in. Perched above Miller Creek in Lucas Valley, our client’s new home had a panoramic view of California’s rolling green hills, just begging to be revealed. Hidden behind an old metal shade structure, a tall fence and overgrown shrubs, we pulled it all out, opened it all up and created the conditions to marvel at their surroundings.
But we also invited the landscape in, bringing it closer to the home where we can touch it, and through careful plant and material choices, established a tangible connection to the surrounding landscape. We repurpose a pile of rocks, bring in some big logs, and lots of native plants. The birds, lizards, and neighborhood kids are close behind.
